It is a very easy and convenient way to cook pongteh (chicken or pork) with the paste.
I would saute the paste first before adding the chicken or streaky pork.
I also add mushroom (dried Chinese mushroom) and bamboo shoots (I use the canned bamboo shoot).
I'm a Peranakan who grew up in my mother's kitchen cos she said all Peranakan girls must be able to cook. Of course, it a very laborious process to cook buah keluak (chicken or pork rib) from scratch. I have learned to accept that I no longer have the time (or energy) to do this.
The Nonyalite paste is the closest to the real stuff. I add a few stalks of crushed lemon grass for additional flavour.
Tasty, jazz it up with garlic cloves and shiitake mushrooms, and you have a hearty dish for the family!
You may adjust the sweetness by adding more water.
Love the taste of the Pongteh. But I used the 3-layer pork. Very flavourful and easy to cook by just following the instructions on tge the packet.
The laksa paste is so versatile!
Besides using it to cook the laksa noodles known to all, we used the paste to cook Yong tau foo and my daughter-in-law and sons loved it
Used this as a base for Yong Tau Foo. Was delicious!

I have tried many different pastes and this brand is the best by far. My family loved it so I have also given some to my friends to try. will continue to use this as I love mee siam. Difficult to get authentic tasting mee siam.
We seldom cook curry as not good at it. However with this paste everything is perfect. Texture and taste all easy to achieve.
This is my first time taking buah keluak. Chicken is so fragrant. I may try cooking with other types of meat next.
Can you get better? Honestly, this is just so easy and best of all, DELICIOUS! Love it! My Singaporean husband thoroughly approves too. I prefer making it with fish than the recommended chicken and it's fabulous with fresh veg and rice.
I use to wait for my son to cook the mee siam sauce and sambal. With that I will cook the dry version using the leftover. Nowwith this paste it make thing much easier for me and I justneed 20 mins of preparation and another30 mins of cooking. And I get my fried mee siam using laksa noodle
